Recently, we have successfully completed the customization and delivery of stainless steel cable netting specially for cougar enclosure renovation. Centering on the zoo’s protection requirements and the living habits of cougars, we provide one-stop services ranging from communication, customized production to delivery and on-site delivery. This project focuses on all-round protection of cougar enclosure net, covering key areas such as top nets and side nets. Adopting a professional cable net solution that balances animal welfare and exhibit safety, it helps the zoo complete enclosure upgrading.
This cable netting order for the cougar enclosure stems from the zoo’s demand to upgrade its original enclosure protection facilities. Initially, the zoo operator learned about our stainless steel cable netting products through our previous renovation cases of Siberian tiger enclosures in the industry. Afterwards, their project manager contacted us to inquire about customized protection solutions suitable for cougar enclosure net.
At the early communication stage, the user put forward three core requirements. First, high protection performance. As large felines, cougars require enclosure nets with excellent impact resistance and tear resistance. Second, perfect adaptability. The nets need to precisely fit the size of the existing enclosure without damaging the original structure. Third, regulatory compliance. The products must meet relevant protection standards for carnivore enclosures to avoid potential safety operation risks for the zoo.
To fully meet the customized demands, we maintained in-depth communication with the client to verify detailed enclosure dimensions. Combined with the daily habits of cougars and our rich experience in similar large beast enclosure renovation projects, we proposed an integrated protection solution of top net and side net. This targeted design effectively solves the zoo’s major concerns, including animal escape from height, side impact damage and non-compliance risks.
After multiple rounds of solution optimization and sample confirmation, both parties reached a cooperation consensus and finalized all order details. We immediately arranged customized production with strict full-process quality control, to ensure all cable nets fully comply with customized specifications.
On the day of shipment, a comprehensive inspection was conducted on all products. Key parameters including mesh size, cable diameter and material were checked one by one. After confirming no quality defects, all goods were professionally packaged with moisture-proof and wear-resistant materials. We cooperated with an experienced logistics team to guarantee safe and timely delivery to the zoo.

Serving as the “side defense line” of cougar enclosure protection, side nets directly withstand cougars’ climbing and impact, acting as a key measure to prevent side escape and ensure zoo safety.
Considering cougars’ natural habits—strong climbing ability, powerful bite force and explosive force—as well as the defects of the original side nets, such as easy wear, gaps and insufficient protection, we recommended Model #3251 side netting for this project. Model #3251 features proper mesh size, high compatibility and long service life.
Made of high-quality stainless steel, it delivers outstanding corrosion resistance, wear resistance and tear resistance. It can adapt to harsh outdoor environments including sun exposure, rain, humidity and dust, and is not easy to rust or deform during long-term service.
The mesh opening and cable diameter are precisely tailored to the cougar’s body size. It avoids escape risks caused by oversize meshes, and prevents poor ventilation and blocked views from undersize meshes. Meanwhile, it eliminates hidden dangers of limb jamming and injury.
The edges of the side nets adopt reinforced weaving technology, together with professional fixing accessories. They can closely fit enclosure columns and walls with seamless connection and zero protection gaps. It thoroughly blocks the possibility of cougars climbing or breaking through from the side, and firmly safeguards the overall enclosure safety.
Cougars possess extraordinary jumping ability, so overhead escape is a critical concern for zoo safety protection. We recommended Model #3276 stainless steel cable netting for the enclosure top. With a 76mm mesh opening, it effectively prevents cougar escape while controlling project costs.
The stainless steel top net adopts a lightweight design for easy installation and later maintenance. Equipped with dedicated mounting brackets, it can be firmly fixed on the top of the enclosure. It resists wind, rain and external impact, and stays stable without loosening or falling off in long-term use, fully building a solid overhead safety barrier for the cougar enclosure net. The full coverage of #3276 netting eliminates all blind areas above the enclosure, eradicating the risk of high-altitude escape at the source.
Design requirements for mesh panels vary in different application scenarios, and stainless steel cable netting features powerful customizability. Various mesh sizes can meet the needs of diverse occasions. For stainless steel cable netting specially used for cougar enclosure net, its core advantage lies in precision adaptation.
First, precise size matching. Production is strictly carried out in accordance with the dimensions provided by the zoo. Reasonable adjustment allowance is reserved to ensure a tight fit with the original enclosure structure during installation. It causes no damage to existing facilities and eliminates all protection gaps.
Second, accurate control over mesh size and cable diameter. Based on the cougar’s body size and habits, customized specifications are adopted to prevent escape and avoid limb jamming. High-strength cable diameters are selected to balance protection performance and lightweight design, without increasing the bearing load of the enclosure.
Third, refined craftsmanship control. The edges of the cable nets are reinforced to prevent wire shedding and loosening. The mesh adopts 7×19 dense weaving technology to further enhance durability and protection, realizing customization on demand and precise adaptation.
In addition, stainless steel cable netting is compatible with multiple frames such as steel structure and wood, and supports various installation methods. Both side nets and top nets for puma enclosures can blend naturally into the surrounding environment with strong flexibility, achieving a perfect combination of ecological harmony and practicality.

In the protection of cougar enclosure net, we always adhere to the core principle of protection first and animal-friendly. We fully respect the natural behavioral instincts of cougars, ensuring protective facilities will not affect their normal inhabitation and activities, while also taking into account tourists’ viewing experience.
The design of this stainless steel cable netting fully embodies the concept of animal friendliness, achieving a win-win situation among safety protection, animal welfare and sightseeing experience.
On one hand, the cable net features a fully transparent design with evenly distributed and reasonably sized meshes, which does not block ventilation and daylight inside the enclosure. Cougars can move, inhabit and forage in a near-natural environment, reducing the restriction caused by man-made protective facilities and retaining their wild instincts to the greatest extent.
On the other hand, the cable net is made of soft yet high-toughness material, different from traditional rigid protective nets. It prevents limb injuries even if cougars accidentally collide or scratch the net, effectively protecting their safety and welfare. Meanwhile, the highly transparent net ensures clear viewing for tourists, allowing them to observe the daily activities of pumas safely at a proper distance.
For enclosures housing large carnivores such as cougars, the safety and compliance of protective facilities are the bottom line of zoo operation, as well as one of the core considerations of this project.
The customized stainless steel cable netting for the cougar enclosure net has been strictly manufactured in accordance with relevant protection standards for large beast facilities. Every link, from material selection and craftsmanship to technical specifications, meets compliance requirements, effectively helping the zoo avoid operational safety risks.
In terms of materials, high-quality stainless steel that meets carnivore protection standards is adopted. It contains no harmful substances, and features excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance. With no material aging, fracture or other potential safety hazards during long-term outdoor use, it fully meets the material requirements for outdoor large animal enclosures.
In terms of specifications, key parameters including mesh size, cable diameter and overall dimensions comply with the protection standards for large feline enclosures, preventing escape, animal injury and other risks caused by substandard specifications.
In terms of craftsmanship, standardized weaving and reinforcement technologies are applied to ensure high stability and durability. The fixing methods conform to facility safety regulations, enabling the netting to effectively resist cougars’ impact and climbing, and guarantee the stability and safety of the protective system.
